Mark had recently lost his job and had little in the way of support or savings, and so needed to claim benefits for the first time.  

He also needed to renew his forklift licence, but as he was struggling financially, he simply didn’t have the funds to do this. Without this license, he would not easily be able to get a new job.  

Our Adviser helped Mark to apply for the Adviser Discretion Fund (ADF) which can assist people in removing the barriers to employment and also provided advice on claiming discretionary support. Mark was successful with both applications which meant that he was able to renew his licence plus he was provided with £250 in Discretionary Support. 

Three weeks later Mark contacted us to give us the good news that he had been offered a job and thanked us for both the advice and support we provided.
