Our advisors have been out and about across the ABC Council area over the summer, meeting residents, community groups and local organisations, sharing information about the support and advice available through Community Advice ABC.
From celebrating families together, the contribution of carers, supporting women and raising awareness of health, wellbeing and dementia, these events provide valuable opportunities for our advisors to connect with the communities we serve.
Celebrating Our Carers in Banbridge
Our advisors were delighted to attend a Carers’ Celebration Event at the Belmont Hotel in Banbridge.
The event was a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution made by unpaid carers in our local communities. Caring for a family member, friend or loved one can be rewarding, but it can also bring financial, emotional and practical challenges.
Events like this allow us to meet carers directly, listen to their experiences and make sure they know where they can access independent advice and support when they need it.
Women’s Aid Outreach in Lurgan
Our advisors also took part in a Women’s Aid outreach event at Millennium Court in Lurgan.
Outreach events are an important part of making advice accessible to people in their local communities. They give people the opportunity to speak with an advisor in a welcoming environment and find out more about the support available to them.
Our advisors were pleased to meet with local community members to highlight the range of advice available through Community Advice ABC.
Health, Wellbeing and Dementia Awareness
We also attended Brownlow Health Centre and ABC Community Health, Wellbeing and Dementia Awareness activities.
Health and wellbeing can be closely connected with financial, housing, benefits and other issues that people may be experiencing. By working alongside health and community organisations, we can help ensure that people are aware of the wider support available to them.
Raising awareness of support available for people and families affected by dementia is an important part of building stronger, more informed communities.
Family Fun Day in Portadown
Our advisors were also delighted to attend the Good Relations Family Fun Day at Portadown People’s Park, joining families and local organisations for an afternoon of fun, friendship and community spirit.
For our team, the event was a great opportunity to meet local people in a relaxed and welcoming environment, raise awareness of the advice and support available through Community Advice ABC, and strengthen our links with other organisations working across the community. We enjoyed meeting families, chatting with other local support services
Working Together Across Our Communities
Getting out into the community is an important part of what we do at Community Advice ABC.
Our advisors regularly attend local events, outreach sessions and partnership activities across Armagh, Banbridge, Portadown, Lurgan and surrounding communities. These events help us build relationships with local organisations, build partnerships, understand the issues affecting people in our area and make sure people know that free, independent advice is available when they need it.
