Effective from 9th September 2026, households across Northern Ireland who use home heating oil may be eligible for a £100 heating oil voucher to help with the cost of heating their homes.
What is the heating oil voucher?
The Northern Ireland Executive has announced a support scheme providing eligible households with a £100 prepaid card. The card can be used with participating home heating oil suppliers.
Who may be eligible?
The scheme is intended to support households facing increased heating oil costs. Eligibility includes households receiving certain income-related benefits, disability benefits or a state pension, as well as households with a combined annual income of £30,000 or less.
Eligibility will be checked as part of the application process, so households should confirm the full criteria before applying.
How to apply
Applications are expected to involve completing an online form so that eligibility can be checked before a prepaid card is issued. Please use official Northern Ireland government information or the scheme helpline to confirm whether applications are currently open and what evidence may be required.
